X-Message-Number: 10047 From: Date: Sun, 12 Jul 1998 16:25:04 EDT Subject: CI growth Cryonics Institute's membership was noted by Paul Wakfer as not being regularly reported. I have previously explained that CI does not publish membership totals because we do not count them the same way others do, and we don't want to create a false impression. To repeat: As I understand it, the organizations that charge annual dues drop a member from the rolls if he doesn't pay. CI does not charge annual dues (unless you want voting rights); once a CI member, always a CI member, unless you specifically ask to be de-listed. However, the point of Paul's post was growth in cryonics. CI has had nine new members in the first half of 1998--a growth rate of very roughly 10%. Nothing dramatic, but plodding along. Several others appear nearly ready to join. We have also had six new patients, an increase of 26%, or over 52% annualized. That would indeed be dramatic, if continued, but of course the sample is too small to mean much.
