When I think of investing in BioTransport when the DPO arrives, I run into
some considerations as an investor:

BioTransport is a for profit organization, so when I make an investment, it
is not tax deductible. OTOH, I can make a donation to Alcor which is
'earmarked' for a particular project. Since I do not expect that
BioTransport will be profitable for a long time, if ever, I have to look at
my investment as a donation. If BioTransport fails, I lose my money. If
instead I make a donation to Alcor, I get the tax advantages, which can be
seen as a kind of 'hedge'.

As some of us in the Bay Area are discussing setting up a washout center,
and will soon be looking for the funding for same, this is a real concern
for myself, as I expect I will be a participating member.
