Whenever goods and services will need to be traded there will be the need
for money as a medium of exchange. No matter how advanced the technology,
there will always be things that some people can do that others can't. Many
of the values that we trade for today will be easily attainable (food,
security), but some might not be (art, knowledge). Unless all people in the
future will be identical, some people will know how to create values that
others can't and there will be the need for trade. The only kind of future
without the need for trade would be one where any value one wished to attain
can instantaneously be satisfied.
