X-Message-Number: 11167 From: "Thomas Nord" <> Subject: Re Location Mike Perry, Randy and Olaf Henny. Date: Mon, 25 Jan 1999 00:27:09 -0000 Thanks all for mixed responsens, keep it up as many can benefit of. Firstly Olaf once again I dont mix guncontrol with location for the moment, it gets to complicated for others to help out then, since I havent made up my mind whats best in US, never wrote "guncrazed americans" even if most of us agree it may be many of them for better or worse, knowing you and I agree mostly in that matter. As long as I get a positive respons this will go on and doesnt only concern me privately, since all Cryonicists outside US have to consider moving over or improve it at home. No place is like home it seems, all do PR for their place, I do too, even you did, complain a little now when it doesnt fit as well, but I keep it in mind due to guncontrol. As mediumage with plans to get kids I have to be extra careful for myself to survive and their future place in good health. I do not wish to repeat myself to much Randy, for those as you can see complain. I found out months ago San Diego are close enough and have a pleasant climate, but do have shakerisks too as far as I've found out, to bad. Perhaps I have to write my sources of information more Perry, but didnt since I get it all on Internet and thought you had the same knowledge at home. But guess you may also be able to find out details of my place I have missed since we perhaps dont search faults up to date where we live. I found out a long time ago newspapers are best from each place compared with official papers as can be followed up then, read Arizona Central from your area online often now, as write often of this matter, and have saved pages. Your county etc. doesnt seem to hide anything where I first found out of "the bad air" issue, as we have here also less, most of us have more or less. I'm working on that problem political etc. since its connected with global warming, health and nuclear power etc. This is hardly the place to debate Scottsdale air, I'll only take a small pick and mail you the rest if you wish, since I wish my cryonicist friends a long life, and perhaps know a little bit more sometimes of environmental health issues as many hasnt the time to study I have taken. For the moment I listen to "Living on earth" direct on link from NPR in US. This can be depressing as Cryonics sometimes, so I limit it in time and do other things. Anyway there seem to be less waterproblems in Scottsdale than i.e Tucson. I'm choosing a place to stay till the end if possible, fed up moving around. I will limit to following since many of us have more or less the same problems at home as can be solved, and many of us like to be a "nutcracker" as we call problemsolving here. A way to stay alive and be a good-doer for myself and others. Mostly I dont have to interfere, just stumble and act on that affects my life, which works very well here. Many years ago I had to proof in court the dangers of car-emissions in a garage, when the landlord cut off the airvent since it made noises in hes apt and got his mistress nervous. Later on I have lived closed to a transitway and still do, so I keep up to date for my own good and others. "Official paper: Destinations is the official newsletter of the Regional Public Transportation Authority Vol I, Issue IV Fall 1998 The crisp, cool days of fall are upon us and that means kids are back in school, footballs are flying through the air, and no more re-runs on TV. The change of season also brings an unwanted "visitor" back to the Valley. Our cool fall and winter temperatures can create a layer of air known as an inversion, which acts like a blanket over the Valley. This covering traps carbon monoxide and particulates causing serious health and environmental problems." And from Maricopa County Trip Reduction Program 1001 N. Central Avenue, Suite 200 Phoenix, AZ 85004 Phone (602) 506-6750 Fax (602) 506-6669 "How Bad is Our Air? Maricopa County continues to exceed the EPA national ambient air quality standards for carbon monoxide, ozone and particulates. This pollution also has a negative affect on our health; we have one of the highest rates of chronic obtrusive lung disease in the nation. In the urbanized area of Maricopa County, commuters drive over 60 million miles each weekday. By 2015, we are expected to drive over 100 million miles per day. (Source: MAG-TPO). All this driving causes tons of carbon monoxide to be released into the air. Each day approximately 70 percent of all carbon monoxide produced is created by passenger cars, pick-up trucks and motorcycles. Combined they release over 770 tons of carbon monoxide into the atmosphere each day and 3,000 tons of particulates. (Source: ADEQ)." I'm trying now to find out if Scottsdale is better in some parts with the air up on the hills. To be objective as its a strength to be, over here a third of the kids get allergies guessed to be caused of to much indoor-life and to much insulated houses for saving energy. Last night till 8AM I found an interesting link, started at www.go.com and spent hours in their realestate link www.realtor.com as have a section on neighbourhod, where I clicked on only one option "1" in a scale 1-5 for least Crime just to compare. Glendale is best in the Phoenixarea, Las Vegas has a large part 1, Tucson a small outback, and Salt Lake city none at the best! Over here its the same of course more or less but with less murders. I used to go to Australia and Spain a longer time to see how it is, its saving time now to start with Internet for facts and then travel. Time is against me at this age. You will all get there if not yet. All in all, we dont need to move out if it isnt for Cryonics as it is, all places has its benefits and problems so it mostly evens out very close, I just have the possibility to make a choice as many hasnt and will stay here of course if a better place cant be found. Life is always a compromize. Enough of this for today and back to daily life, Mvh Sincerely Long Life Thomas Nord Stockholm Sweden http://user.tninet.se/~rqt138d/ http://members.tripod.co.uk/RWnovhoi/index.html http://expage.com/page/cryonics Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=11167
