Subject: Those missing ETs

Smith (can't find first name from the message) in #11188 comments that the
ETs are invisible because they are so advanced we don't know what to look

for. I share this opinion. I'm of the opinion that our technology will
reach a singularity of types where we can no longer recognize the entities
and technologies that humans will become. I am optimistic that this will

be a good thing and that our happiness will be greatly increased.

Such advanced societies would use physics we don't yet understand and so
are unrecognizable even if we are observing them. Its also possible
they've all gone to parallel universes that are in some way superior to
our own... or they've gone in time machines to the distant past or
future....or they figured out that this universe really IS just a
simulation and have uploaded to the next level of reality, joining the
simulators. At any rate, it will be so radically different that it is
impossible to know in what way the ETs have become invisible to us.

I also believe it is possible that all technologically advanced societies

eventually stumble on some very fundamental, very deadly technology, like

gray-goo or something along these lines. In this case, all societies are

eliminated at the same stage of their development and so again, they are
invisible to us. I hope this scenario doesn't pan out!

I'm glad cryonics may provide a way to witness these coming events which
should be a good show.
