  IMHO, we live in a society that exists in the middle ages as far as
mental health is concerned. Current incidence of psychiatric disorders in
the general population is about 50%. (see Arch Gen Psychiatry 51: 8-19
1994) This includes 3.5% for antisocial personality, 26.6% for
substance abuse, 24.9% for anxiety disorders, and 19.3% for depressive
disorders. Few of these currently ever see any therapy for their mental
problems.
