Many people take refuge in "The Physics of Immortality" and similar works as
an alternative to religion, instead of considering cryonics. People in
cryonics may even decide it is more economic to leave it and take refuge in
these ideas.

It is for this reason that I consider it appropriate to debate them here.
Such debate shows that it would be foolish to leave cryonics in a vain hope
that quantum mechanics may save them.

Few people in cryonics have the education or the right kinds of minds or
personalities to take part in the actual day to day work. Virtually
everyone who has passed through the rigours of medical or biomedical
training has had something done to their minds that prevents them
considering cryonics. Or maybe the possibility of a mind encompassing
cryonics and having the ability to mashall facts in the way required by
these sciences is extremely rare. The linking of the ability to deal with
hostile professionals with someone who accepts cryonics may also be rare.
The exceptions to these rules make up the operating personnel of the
cryonics movement.

However the people who don't make up the operating personel of the cryonics
movement want to discuss things with like minds. Cryonet is surely the place
to do it. In addition, debates can be carried over into other appropriate
lists and newsgroups with the possibility of recruiting people to cryonics.
