X-Message-Number: 11391 Date: Mon, 8 Mar 1999 15:16:54 -0500 (EST) From: "Henry R. Hirsch" <> Subject: Numerical headings are uninformative In agreement with those who favor informative headings, I find that numerical headings are especially undesirable. Few of us can remember the topics of messages by the numbers a day or two later. Please don't use "Re message 314159." It is much better to say "Relativistic quantum chromodynamic effects suggest parallel universes". This is longer, but it saves the reader who is interested in cryoprotective agents from going through half of your message to find out that he would rather skip it. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Henry R.
