Date: Sat, 20 Mar 1999 04:00:03 -0000 John and others argues for own investments versus insurance etc. Perhaps I've missed some due to timeshortage with piles of jobs even now on friday night as usual, when true facts not is simpel black and white as in politics etc. Directinvestments can give much more for sure, I started from 1 and have some 6.000.000 times more now in realestate, own trustfunds and private, still growing if nothing goes down a lot. But it has taken some decades, I can now pay for suspension cash for me and my near ones at CI or ACS or CC or Alcor. Not all of us have the time and interest to do that, often with sacrifize of other private matters in the meantime. Problem numero uno: Even a young one can die suddenly and can often not afford both lifeinsurance and investments. John and I and more of us can but many of us cant for sure. Another problem is the risks of a legal dispute if we die with some greedy ones who can inherit us, I have one for the moment but anyone may turn greedy in that moment as I learned when my father died. Therefore I dont trust private assets no matter what, and dont trust trustfunds even if they are a lot better, because the greedy ones may try to crack them. A trustfund made even with a topnotch lawyer may be invalid in time with new laws etc. we havent observed. Therefore for Cryonics suspension-payments I have found lifeinsurance to be a guarantee, and is also most simple for the Cryo.-orgs to fullfill what they should do without hesitation. Payment shouldnt be a problem starting from 28.000 bucks. Isnt there such a thing as a family-lifeinsurance? Otherwise it may be costly. This must be looked on case by case. The poorer ones start with 28 and then upgrade with time. One Cryonicist in Cal even claim in here he cant afford anything. I havent found anyone who can sign me up for a lifeinsurance in dollars, as many of us need due to exchangerates, as long as I live outside US. If we cant we have to oversize the amount in local value a lot and keep it up to date, since a dollar was 50% lower in my lifetime not so long ago. Getting to drowsy at 3:37 AM, time to read some of your pages and then hit the sack. Cryonics shure do take a lot of time.
