Subject: Thomas Nord and Guns.

On guns.

I can't convince even one world leader to change his tie color.

I doubt you are anyone else will influence in any meaningful way how any
particular society deals with citizen gun ownership.

(I have to thank Harry Browne for pointing this out to me in the early
1970's in his marvelous now back-in-print book HOW I FOUND FREEDOM IN AN
UNFREE WORLD).

I feel it is critical to not confuse yelling at a crowd (or voting in an
election) with believing you are meaningfully INFLUENCING anything they are
doing or thinking.

Peashooters do not sink battleships.

The only useful thing I can see about this topic is in possibly determining
WHERE to live. In other words, is the gun issue important enough to cause a
cryonicist to relocate somewhere else?

I DO feel less edgy walking in London rather than New York City.

I also DO avoid those parts of my neighborhood populated by gun-toting
muggers and drug users.

I AM interested in reading convincing arguments to change my home address if
it appears that relocation will MEANINGFULLY increase my odds of avoiding
getting killed.

Not dying is what cryonics is all about.
