It seems to me that people have gotten very emphatic in their
arguments that uploading will or will not work. I don't understand
why. If uploading will work, that's no reason to ignore other
survival strategies, because if they do, that will give you all
the more time for the uploading technology to improve (maybe even
enough for it to become viable in the first place -- and the same
thing could be said for cryonics technology). If it won't, you'll
presumably be glad you did whatever else you could.

So, whichever side you're on, what does it matter if you "prove"
you're right (sorry, I am convinced that *none* of you knows the
future with complete certainty) now? Work on living long enough
to be vindicated! And maybe work on distilling your arguments to
the point where somebody with money will invest in them.
Otherwise, isn't going out to enjoy sky, trees, water, good food,
"kittens and rainbows", sex, soccer, video arcades, or whatever
a better use of the life you have than beating your head against
these philosophical walls? To steal from "Armageddon" -- "I hope
so, or what are we trying to save?"

Love life now,
Kennita
