X-Message-Number: 11758 From: Date: Sat, 15 May 1999 13:51:20 EDT Subject: Harnessing Nord Thomas Nord writes: >I've learned how to influence in >topnotch politics for decades now, from home costing nothing but hours, >mostly and simply by writing to the rulers, to their homes in order to >surpass the secreterial-filter. --and other similar remarks. It would be interesting to know some details of this history, but taking his remarks at face value, this is striking and impressive. Since Mr. Nord has repeatedly asked for suggestions for his own activities, my reaction is this: Focus on your strength--established connections in Sweden. Try to sell cryonics to prominent or influential or otherwise respected people in Sweden. Ask us to help you in whatever way comes to mind, perhaps by writing separately to addresses you provide, perhaps by sending you specially-designed messages for you to pass on, whatever. Marta Sandberg has often said that Swedes are very logical and enterprising people, with a can-do attitude, and very open to advances in technology. Ordinarily, that advantage might not be enough to offset the small population, but if Mr. Nord has unusual access and influence, that is another story. If important people (and serious people, not entertainers) in any country--and especially a widely respected country such as Sweden--were seen to embrace cryonics, that could be important indeed. Incidentally, Steve Bridge gave Thomas a good answer to his correspondent's question about body parts. I had sent a similar answer privately yesterday, and forgot to copy it to Cryonet, and won't bother now, since Steve said most of it.
