X-Message-Number: 11872 Date: Wed, 02 Jun 1999 01:49:33 -0700 From: Mike Perry <> Subject: Apologies, Splitting CryoNet My posting #11865 yesterday had some extra stuff on the end that I forgot to delete before sending--repeats from the previous day, sorry about that. As one more suggestion to consider on possibly splitting CryoNet (and not too original, but worth a closer look I think), suppose we have a special class of subject that would be indicated by a colon (:) or some other chosen symbol. This would precede the subject heading proper, like this: :Consciousness, Turing machines, and Book-feelings. The beginning colon could be detected automatically. Subscribers would have the option of registering as a non-recipient of messages like this. I don't know how hard it would be to set this up, but it would be little trouble to posters (and left up to their discretion) to tag appropriate messages as a courtesy to others who are not interested in the said subject. Of course we would have to agree, more or less, on which type of subject the colon is to refer to, but in this case I think that's pretty definite.
