Kevin brings up an interesting point. However, we could put another spin
on this whole issue.

This craze for organ donors might be helpful for us. One of our biggest
problems seems to be making sure that patients are promptly pronounced and
immediately given artificial life (?) support. Obviously, if the system is
organized and prepared to harvest organs there will be great incentives to
do just this. I for one wouldn't mind giving up my heart, kidneys, liver,
and lungs; if the payoff was that I spent little or no time in warm ischemia.
I say this even though I am a full body suspension member of Alcor.

The reality is that the vast majority of us are likely to die in ways that
make organ harvesting impractical. But if such laws come into being, our
focus should be on how we can use them to our advantage.

Mike
