Subject: CRYONICS - Funding Suspensions

In reply to suggestions from Ralph Merkle, Steve Harris, Thomas Donaldson,
and others:

I really like the creative suggestions I am seeing here. It is
possible that some of them will turn out to be impractical or illegal for a
non-profit corporation to undertake; but maybe not. Besides our own
thoughts, we need a non-profit specialist to look at the ideas that seem
most practical.

As a new Director for Alcor, I can already see that there are more
problems and more ideas for solutions than we can tackle at once. How to
pay for transport and for last-minute members certainly ranks in the top
five of priority problems in both importance and, unfortunately, in
complexity. I suspect that the Board will not be able to formally begin
dealing with this particular problem for a few meetings yet.

However, PLEASE do not let us forget about this problem. Let's keep
hammering away at it to eliminate the least practical solutions first. I
will be saving this thread for future examination and I hope you will
constantly remind us of its importance.

Thanks especially to Steve Harris for his perspective on this problem.
I think he may be on the right track. I would appreciate it if someone out
there would run through various common scenarios of membership using this
plan and see how it might work for each type of member. Let's see if the
numbers appear to add up with the kind of balance that Steve projects.

     Steve Bridge
