Date: Sat, 24 Jul 1999 11:01:00 +0100 Excellent idea of Olaf Henny to cryopreserve an old organ being replaced by transplant. If this could gain acceptance, this could put the foot in the door to change opinion in favour of cryopreservation of currently incurable people. I can see objections being raised by professionals in the transplant industry as it would signal that their industry would suffer redundancies once new organs can be grown for specific recipients. But I would point out to them that it is only the harvesting and immunology side of the industry that would go - all the other skills would still be needed. Their industry will still suffer these changes once cloned organs become possible. This may the real reason for the anti-cloning movement, with its ridiculous arguments about cloning whole people - they don't fool me. -- Sincerely, John de Rivaz my homepage links to Longevity Report, Fractal Report, my singles club for people in Cornwall, music, Inventors' report, an autobio and various other projects: http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/JohndeR Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=12183
