You might look again at my book. Some people think melatonin extends 
lifespan because it is a good antioxidant with the properties you suggest.
Antioxidants able to be taken by mouth already exist. The real problem
seems to be just which organs they can easily enter. Melatonin, if it
indeed works as an antioxidant, does enter the brain.
