X-Message-Number: 1243 Subject: CRYONICS WAIS server for cryonet archives, anyone? Date: Tue, 29 Sep 92 12:48:17 -0400 From: Several times while working on the FAQ I wished there was a WAIS server for cryonics mailing list archives. "WAIS" stands for "Wide Area Information Service". The server basically would allow anyone with an internet connection to do keyword searches through the cryonics mailing list archives. Setting it up would require a machine on the internet, 20 MB or so of disk space, and some hacking to cause new cryonics mailing list messages to be automatically added. Is anyone interested in doing this? Tim Freeman [ That sounds like a good idea. I would expect the WAIS server user interface to be more slick than the crude-but-functional CRYOMSG mechanism I hacked together, too. - KQB ] Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=1243
