X-Message-Number: 12496 From: Date: Sat, 2 Oct 1999 23:25:59 EDT Subject: CC/CI As is now well known among Cryonics organizations, there is a question as to whether, or to what extent, CryoSpan will continue to offer long term storage in liquid nitrogen. This leaves CryoCare and its members in an uncertain situation, which was explained to us by CryoCare President Ben Best at our meeting Sep.19. According to Ben's request, and in consultation with him, the CI directors have been discussing ways to make CI storage available to CC members. Except for some phraseology which is being touched up, a proposal has been approved whereby CI storage will be made available to CC members who have chosen the whole-body option. I expect the final wording will be sent to Mr. Best tomorrow, and made available to CC members shortly afterward. The prospective patient will be a member of both CC and CI. There will be a contract, with a special rider, between the prospective patient (who already has a contract with CC) and CI. No written agreement between CC and CI is required, although of course CC cooperation will be needed to make the proposal operative. The CC member will need only to execute the CI membership application, contract, and rider. He will not need to change his life insurance beneficiary; CI will accept CC's guarantee of payment. As to neuros, there is some opposition or disagreement among the CI directors, and this question has been left for later consideration.
