As you age, >your DNA slowly mutates so that an old person's DNA in each cell may >not be identical to the DNA of each cell at birth. ..... I've found an interesting URL in: www.youthcell.com and they do store your dna. My interest in preserving my "youthful" dna revolves around the idea that future methods of genetic engineering may permit us to rejuvenate our aging cells by employing a benign virus to transport a fresh copy of our mitocondria dna to these old cells. This may improve our longevity enough to permit us to take advantage of future improvements in cryonic suspension. For that matter, it may be possible to live long enough to achieve immortality by more direct means such as uploading via some super nmr imaging device...but I digress. For me personally, I would much rather be reanimated by being uploaded in any event and so storing my dna is only a bridge to the future. If I were uploaded I could explore the universe unencumbered by the constraints of biology. In an instant, an uploaded soul could fathom the deepest and most beautiful mathematical and physical theories and visualize his ruminations in the most exquisite detail. Planetary travel would be as easy as transmitting, at light speed, the software that encodes your identity. /gary Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=12842
