X-Message-Number: 12897 From: Date: Sat, 4 Dec 1999 09:43:14 EST Subject: community or hospice? Thomas Donaldson (#12894) says we don't need a community for old cryonicists, but rather a cryonics hospice. No, we don't need a hospice. Hospices already exist, almost everywhere, and you can die at home under hospice care. Cryonics Institute has had several patients die under hospice care--both at home and in hospice facilities--always with good results, very prompt suspensions, cooperation of all officials. Dave Pizer's point was that we do need a community for old cryonicists, for reasons of morale and support to prevent the loss of motivation often seen in age and illness, and to reduce the risk of malign interference by relatives.
