Greg Egan also wrote a set of short stories under the title "Axiomatic". In one of those short stories he depicts a time when people routinely have billions of nano-machines floating about inside their brains monitoring their neural electrical traffic and building an extremely accurate model of the behaviour of the individuals brain. When the model becomes perfect, the individual is uploaded i.e. the data in the nano-machines is transmitted to an external receiver. Charles Platt's "The Silicon Man", which I read many years ago, also considers the notion of "uploading". /gary Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=12976
