Ditto! I read this earlier in the year and found it quite enthralling. 

Greg Egan also wrote a set of short stories under the title "Axiomatic".
In one of those short stories he depicts a time when people routinely
have billions of nano-machines floating about inside their brains
monitoring their neural electrical traffic and building an extremely
accurate model of the behaviour of the individuals brain. When the model
becomes perfect, the individual is uploaded i.e. the data in the
nano-machines is transmitted to an external receiver.

Charles Platt's "The Silicon Man", which I read many years ago, also
considers the notion of "uploading".
