Refute their lies in public to damage their reputation and enhance
your own.  This makes people notice you, and it makes future yahoos
think much more carefully before slandering you.  If, in your
refutation, you mention clearly that survival of individual cells is
irrelevant, you won't be contributing to the general confusion.
(Whether this is the most effective use of your time is another
question.)  Why not take a few brain cells next time you suspend a dog
and culture them?  It shouldn't be too hard.
