TERMINATING SUBSCRIPTIONS Due to the large amount of people on this mailing list, it's time to prune the list again. The following people will have their subscriptions terminated by the next issue unless they either attend the next meeting or send a letter saying they wish to remain on our mailing list: David Brandt/Anderson Paul Genteman Forrest W. Munden Harry Braun Tony Lewis Douglas Nusbaum Jim Burns Don McLain Richard Poppotvin Larry K. Covey Ken Messer Micke' Reynolds Kenneth Fox Kenneth Morse SPECIAL GUEST -- SUE TRIPATHI Sue Tripathi, from the local NBC affiliate KVBC, attended this meeting. She filmed the entire meeting. This is the second time that Sue has taken time out of her busy schedule to film and publicize local Alcor activities. The main topic of the meeting was our complaints against the Clark County Fire Department for their refusal to honor our bracelets. The earlier promise to circulate a memo throughout the relevant Fire Departments was never carried out. Cindy Putirka's complaints about this were aired in two different news segments. Her complaints about the Fire Department were responded to on the air by Mercy Ambulance who said that it was their job to do CPR on a patient until they reach the hospital who should then act on the bracelet. Since our complaint was with the Fire Department and not Mercy Ambulance, this was far from a satisfactory response. Once our meeting with Mercy Ambulance is concluded, we will determine how to handle the Fire Department's intransigence. Legal actions may need to be taken. SPECIAL GUESTS - CARLOS MONDRAGON, TANYA JONES, AND DEREK RYAN. Alcor's President and two Alcor employees came to present the case why Alcor's bracelets should be honored by the fire department. Derek Ryan also completed the sign up of four new Alcor Laughlin members when the meeting was completed. Note that no representatives of the fire department showed up to present their side of the case. The mayor did not attend either but promised to contact the fire department about our situation. An update on the mayor's efforts will be included in the next minutes. SPECIAL HOSTESS - DENISE PADGETT Denise Padgett is the manager at Renata's. She supplied our hungry group with a free buffet. My stomach wishes all of our meetings were at Renata's! FORMAL MEETING Please remember that our next meeting at Mercy Ambulance main headquarters is a formal business meeting. No T-shirts please! PUTIRKA DOG The Putirka's were quoted one price for getting their dog frozen before they brought him to Alcor for suspension and a different price after they arrived with their dog. Since they were first advised by Alcor Laughlin on how to solve their problem, they have been able to convince Alcor Central to lower the price charged but not down to the original price quoted. The Putirka's now have been advised to speak to some of our new board members to rectify this problem. STATE OF NEVADA SUPREME COURT LIBRARY AND STATE OF NEVADA LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL BUREAU. Eric Klien did research with these two Nevada government agencies to get a list of all animal research laws in both the state and the 17 different counties. This information is available on request. ALTERNATIVE METHODS OF ELECTING THE ALCOR BOARD OF DIRECTORS This topic will be discussed at our next meeting. The four pages of material I have on this topic are available on request. They will also be available at that meeting, of course. ARGUMENTS IN FAVOR OF A SEPARATE PATIENT-CARE ORGANIZATION This topic will be discussed at our next meeting. The sixteen pages of material I have on this topic are available on request. They will also be available at that meeting, of course. PUBLICITY Jackson Zinn's calling most of the 170 people we mailed literature to produced no leads. Brenda Peters, an Alcor board member, has begun an outreach program for us based on all inquiries that Alcor has received in Nevada.
