I have also speculated as to whether common diseases such as colds and influenza have unknown more serious long term effects. (e.g. could a specific cold virus induce cancer 20, 30 or more years later in 10% of its victims? If this occurred who would ever find out?) It is therefore interesting to see some physical work being done on such a speculation.
