It has always seemed to me to be possible that ageing is the result of an
infectious disease that everyone gets sooner or later or is even passed down
through the generations. I have also speculated as to whether common
diseases such as colds and influenza have unknown more serious long term
effects. (e.g. could a specific cold virus induce cancer 20, 30 or more
years later in 10% of its victims? If this occurred who would ever find
out?)

It is therefore interesting to see some physical work being done on such a
speculation.
