Subject: The "complete" Cryonet Archives have moved

I have moved my "complete" CryoNet archives from:

http:://www.clark.net/pub/kfl/les/cryonet/

to

http://keithlynch.net/cryonet/

As some of you may recall, three years ago I had moved them from
another site (Digex), where they had been for the two previous years.

Now that I have a domain name of my own, no further moves should be
necessary even if and when I change ISPs in the future. Similarly, my
e-mail address is now If you have me listed as
, , , etc, please change
the listing. It should never be necessary to change it again.

I now have access to much more disk space, so I can resume updating my
archives, and can remove those quotes from "complete". Currently, the
messages only go through the end of 1998. And the sender and keyword
indices only go through August 1996. But at least they do go back all
the way to the beginning of the list, twelve years ago. And newer
messages are available via the web from cryonet.org.

I've also taken this opportunity to reorganize the files within the
site somewhat. You don't need to read the rest of this message unless
you have a link from a web page or bookmark page directly to one of
the pages within my site. (If you're not certain you don't, please
check. Thanks.)

Instead of having all messages in one directory, which resulted in
slow access and other problems, I've given every hundred messages a
subdirectory of their own. The sender indices and keyword indices
also each get a subdirectory of their own, as do the "frequently
updated" messages and cryonics politics messages which begin with 0.

If you have a link to a message, put a slash two places to the left
of the first dot. For instance 123.html should become 1/23.html,
1234.html should become 12/34.html, 12345.html should become
123/45.html, 1234.5.html should become 12/34.5.html, and
0014.162.1.html should become 00/14.162.1.html.

Messages 1 though 99 are in directory 0. So 1.html should become
0/1.html, and 99.html should become 0/99.html. (None of the messages
that began with zero didn't begin with TWO zeros, so there's no
ambiguity.)

To clarify,

http://www.clark.net/pub/kfl/les/cryonet/0014.162.1.html

should be changed to

http://www.keithlynch.net/cryonet/00/14.162.1.html

(I chose that example because it's the longest and most complicated
message number. Not because I necessarily agree with the contents of
that message.)

If you have any links to a keyword index page, place a slash after
the initial k. For instance kAlcor.html should become k/Alcor.html.

If you have any links to a sender index page, place a slash after
the initial f. For instance fDonaldson,Thomas.html should become
f/Donaldson,Thomas.html.

I apologize for the inconvenience. But this should allow me to resume
updates, and should give everyone faster access. And no further moves
should ever be necessary. At least none that are visible to users.

I always welcome replies to my e-mail, postings, and web pages, but
unsolicited bulk e-mail sent to thousands of randomly collected
addresses is not acceptable, and I do complain to the spammer's ISP.
