Freezing Cherries:

- Spread freshly picked and briefly washed cherries in a single
layer for one day in the sun, to slightly reduce their water
leave the cherries there for two half-days).
- Transfer the cherries again in a single layer for quick
freezing on baking sheets and stick them into the freezer.
- When the are frozen solid, transfer them into freezer bags
and remove most of the air
- At Christmas, or whenever, thaw them quickly, by putting them
into a large plastic bag, where they can be well spread out and
immersed in running cold water. Putting the bag with the
cherries into a large bowl with a barely running cold water will
work well. As soon as they are thawed, they can be eaten like
freshly picked cherries. - Deeelicious; well, there is a small
reduction of crispness, but at x-mas, who will know the
   difference? :)
What has all that to do with cryonics? For one thing, I developed
the above method, based on what I have learned here about
avoiding freezing damage. But it also occurred to me, that the good
shape, that cherries maintained after a mild dehydration, will also
provide a benefit other than timely cryo-preservation to those who
in their last days in a hospice hasten their death by refusing to take
liquids.
Best,
Olaf
