The "Knower" might me what we call consciousness and the "Known" should be the memories or the experience that we have of the world through our senses, most of which we forget (either immediately or with the passage of time). The "Known" surely is that which gets 'stored' in the neuronal structure which we all know is dynamic. This is what we are trying to preserve via cryonics. But can we also preserve the "Knower" i.e. the consciousness. If we can why not try to find out (if possible) which structure in the brain is responsible for this "Knower" phenomenon and give it that much more protection. Of course if "Knower" is an emergent property that comes when the brain fires in the way it does or is structured in the way it is then I might be wrong in trying to pinpoint the location of consciousness. I am also not implying here that the "Knower" might be a soul that interacts with our body when the body is 'alive' and gives us our identity. But their is no proof that this might not be the case either. I will try to buy your resource from Alcor , but I am totally involved with the stock market here in Bombay and can hardly find time to read books that are available at the local library, forget doing research on memory!
