X-Message-Number: 14318 From: "George Smith" <> References: <> Subject: A few suggestions Date: Tue, 15 Aug 2000 18:05:29 -0700 (1) Would it be reasonable to have a limit placed on the length of messages posted? If you can't express yourself in a few short sentences or paragraphs, you probably need to better think through what you are trying to communicate. I was pleased by the recent Cryonet change to force replies to be larger than the quoted texts, but some of these more recent efforts to prove what? Personal perfection? These deserve to be taken into direct email between the individuals. (2) Also if you POST here in reply to someone, you ARE opening your post to general comment. After all, you DIDN'T just email the person. You DID post your "reply" on the Cryonet. So when I read remarks like, "My words were taken out of context and were not part of my reply to Mr. Higgleschrugger..." I can't help but wonder WHY you posted to the Cronet in the first place. In fact this sounds incredibly disingenuous. Summary: If you want a private conversation, send a private email. If you want to reply to a posting, send an email UNLESS you want to SHARE your "reply" for further comment by others. Please try and keep it short and to the point. Examples are appreciated. But autobiographies should be mailed to Random House. George Smith Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=14318
