To Scott Herman:
I missed a lot of the controversy when I was moving. Some parts of your
message were unclear to me. It was of course clear that you were thoroughly
shat off about some active members of Alcor.

I will say that if only politicians remain in Alcor, then we can't expect
Alcor to be run by anyone but politicians. It's obviously distasteful to
you to deal with politicians, and I even sympathize a lot with that
reaction. But that is one of the problems up with which we must put ...
not only government interference and bureaucracy, dumb misunderstanding
by most of the public, and difficulties in raising money and organizing
to achieve in the simplest kinds of progress --- but internal politics, too.

As for myself, if I had not decided long ago that cryonics was my only
chance at long term life, I would have left the field many years ago. Do
you know of any cryonics society which is NOT affected by politics? Do
you know, for that matter, of any SOCIETY which is not affected by
politics? I don't, and I've been involved with all of them.

				Best, and long life,
					Thomas
