X-Message-Number: 14474 From: Brent Thomas <> Subject: cryonics and futurist funding Date: Thu, 14 Sep 2000 14:51:37 -0400 there were several posts recently about soliciting funding from prominent individuals to fund things like cryonics and life-extension research. there was an interesting article by wired magazine about Dean Kamen http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/8.09/kamen.html?pg=1&topic=&topic_set= linked from slashtdot at http://slashdot.org/articles/00/09/13/2249233.shtml discussing his personal fortune, innovate lifestyle and background as an eccentric but extremely successful inventor and (unacknowledged but nonetheless) futurist. if there are persons seeking funding or manpower for specific research or inventions (which we hope might relate to cryonics or life-extension) this man (and his organization) might be worth a hard look as potential backers/developers. It didn't sound from the article that he'd been exposed much to the cryonics concept but he does have a background in medical devices so it might be an easy conceptual leap for him.
