Subject: two new ideas about identity!!

Hi everyone!

The latest Cryonet has some real meat on the subject of identity. I'm
not saying that I agree, only that it is substantial.

First, Bob Ettinger comes up with a theory about identity different
from any I've read about elsewhere. It does not really remove the
possibility of some kind of computer imitation, but such an imitation
would have to do something quite different from the "normal" version.
I would hope that he reads up on brains and comes up with more than
what is basically the skeleton of a theory.

Then Lee Corbin's story-argument that duplicates are identical people
also is new to me. Again, for more than a story this requires more
work.

I will refrain from criticizing either theory, not because I cannot
think of criticisms but because I think they would not be appropriate.
And I hope that both Bob Ettinger and Lee Corbin continue to think
about and expand upon their ideas.

Best wishes and long long life to all,

			Thomas Donaldson
