X-Message-Number: 14771 From: "Marty Kardon" <> References: <> Subject: aging and new ideas Date: Mon, 23 Oct 2000 16:13:40 -0400 My completely unscientifc and unverifiable opinion is that as we age the biology of our brain and entire body alters so that the net yield of the thinking organ is different - this is just based upon my comparison with the way I think now vs. the way I did at age 20 and comparing it to the way I perceived "old folks" thinking then compared to the way I'm starting to fit into that mold as my body ages. I think if we someday have biologically/hormonally younger or altered bodies the thinking processes will inevitably be different - new ideas may or may not be more or less accessible to the revived person - the law of unintended consequences breathes on all of our necks and other than accepting that if revived we are by definition alive I don't believe anyone can predict what our frames of reference or mind will be. Remember how bizarre Elsa Lanchester [sp?] acted in Bride of Frankenstein when they activated her? Could be better [hopefully!], could be worse....on the other hand at least it will be something if the cryonics assumptions bear out.
