X-Message-Number: 14898 From: "Marta Sandberg" <> Subject: Risk and non-USA insurance companies Date: Sun, 12 Nov 2000 10:54:53 GMT Dear Alcor, The issue of reliability of non-USA insurance companies have been bought up on the CryoNet in recent posting, cumulating with Alcor s' resolution announced in message #14860. Before I continue I would like to make it clear that I am *not* criticising Alcor, nor questioning their judgement or their right in making this resolution. However I would like to know the reasons behind it. As a non-USA cryonicists who have 'foreign' life insurance to pay for my suspension, I find this development very disturbing. I would like to know if/why my insurance may not be safe. Could Alcor, please, explain what problems they have had in the past with insurance companies or what problems they anticipate in the future. I would also like to know how Alcor evaluates which insurance companies are safe. Once again I would like to stress that this is not a criticism of Alcor. I would simply like to have the relevant information so I can judge the degree of risk (if any) that my current insurance arrangements present. I believe I may share my newfound sense of unease with most cryonicists who have non-USA insurance. I respectfully ask Alcor to share their information with all cryonicsist, irrespective if what organisation they belong to. I would also ask other cryonics organisations - CI, ACS, TransTime, and CryoSpan - what their experience with non-USA insurance companies have been. Both the good and the bad. Do they feel they have any reason for concern? Thanking you in anticipation, Marta Sandberg _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com.
