(Why we also need better epistemology). That's funny. I thought that almost no one has any problems with accepting the idea of teleporting. It's pretty straightforward in StarTrek, The Fly and other movies. Some of us already have had a happy experience of teleportation... in computer games ;-) Let me tell you yet another sci-fi story. A comic one. Imagine... Some crazy scientist presented teleportation technology in an exhibition "Transportation 2075". He stepped in (not for the first time, obviously) one cabin and stepped out from the other. Everyone got the message with no problems, and a few months later hundreds of commercial companies were busy competing in a new market - selling teleporters for all kinds of transportation needs. Stairs, elevators, public transport... all those things were disappearing from a face of Earth pretty rapidly. Meanwhile a church of Pizerists was busy convincing everybody: "Don't use those evil telepods, telepads and other tele-stuff! The question is not what the person stepping out thinks, but rather what is the truth about the survival! The truth is that something nonfeelable, unperceivable, still unknown to modern science is not being transferred..." The end. -- ICQ: 43912181 Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=14906
