X-Message-Number: 15036 From: "John de Rivaz" <> References: <> Subject: Re: lost emails and consciousness Date: Mon, 27 Nov 2000 17:05:48 -0000 Susan Blackmore thinks and states in her book The Meme Machine that consciousness is an illusion. I must say that some of the discussion here recently does re-enforce this idea, particularly when considering matters such as uploading into machines, teleporting or duplicating. If consciousness is an illusion, it is all we are and is still an illusion worth preserving, so we need to be sure as how to preserve it in the best way possible. Due to a fault at NTL, I lost about 12 emails on Monday morning. They would have been sent during the day on Sunday from the USA, or on Sunday evening in the UK. If anyone reading this list has sent me an email during this period, please re-send if it is important. -- Sincerely, John de Rivaz my homepage links to Longevity Report, Fractal Report, music, Inventors' report, an autobio and various other projects: http://www.geocities.com/longevityrpt http://www.autopsychoice.com - should you be able to chose autopsy?
