X-Message-Number: 15352 Date: Tue, 16 Jan 2001 00:55:51 -0800 From: "H. Keith Henson" <> Subject: Adventures of Keith Henson My trial in Hemet on "misdemeanor terrorism" starts January 22, assuming it is not overtaken by other events. Which it might be with a little help. From http://caag.state.ca.us/piu/da.htm, "Complaints against District Attorneys are, in certain specified situations, handled directly by the Office of the Attorney General. However, the Attorney General's intervention is appropriate only where there is a demonstrated conflict of interest which would disqualify the district attorney from a particular case. ********** "Also, if there is an obvious abuse of the district attorney's legal discretion in the decision whether to file a criminal charge, the Attorney General may intervene." ****************************** There is the statement of Deputy Tony Greer: "In reviewing all of the Internet postings I did not see any direct threat of violence towards the church or any personnel of the church." In spit of this statement, I am being charged with terrorizing 3-5 scientologist with my Internet postings, even though these people never read news. Posting on the net is, of course, a First Amendment protected activity. Combined with my First Amendment protected activity of picketing at their desert compound (and being arrested while picketing) this makes the actions of the Hemet DAs look a lot like an "obvious abuse of the district attorney's legal discretion" and an attempt to violate my right to peacefully protest the vicious abuses of scientology. (Including two deaths of young women at their base near Hemet, California last year.) Reason I think letter might be effective is that there are indications Judge Rodney L. Walker, the judge in my case has been talking to the AG's office. It would not hurt a bit for others to contact the California AG, especially Californians who can go through their elected representatives and have them suggest to the AG that he take a look at the Deputy DAs in Hemet and this case. You can email right out of the form here http://caag.state.ca.us/piu/ Thanks to any who do. I would appreciate a copy by email and/or posting your letter on alt.religion.scientology. Keith Henson PS. It could be worse. If you think misdemeanor terrorism is a wacky crime, in Clearwater, FL they are trying to get a woman jailed for sitting in Santa's chair. http://www.sptimes.com/News/011401/NorthPinellas/Scientology_hearing_f.shtml Santa's Chair of Doom Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=15352
