X-Message-Number: 15380 From: Date: Thu, 18 Jan 2001 16:00:29 EST Subject: BioTransport/Alcor On Dec. 4 I sent a query to BioTransport, c/o Alcor, asking for an update on plans whereby CI or other organizations might subcontract or license services or solutions or procedures. After about a month I got an answer from Fred Chamberlain, who is president of both BT and Alcor. He said BT at this time has no plans to deal with anyone other than Alcor (contrary to previously stated intentions). Of course, there are many possibilities for the future. Maybe BT will change its policy. Maybe we can license directly from 21CM or an affiliate, either their current methods or future methods, if we have a chance to test these and find them of value. Maybe CI will just use its own developing procedures, and license them to others; we have a big experimental agenda. In any event, we remain committed to providing the best services we can, at the lowest prices, and eventually probably a range of services at different prices--while maintaining our traditional stability and financial soundness.
