Subject: CRYONET INTEREST IN SURROGATE PARTNER THERAPY

One of you wanted more information on surrogate partner therapy
(SPT). I am available on the net or by phone (714 953-9882) to fully
describe any aspects of this experiential psychotherapeutic intervention.
In summary however, it consists of the utilization of a trained adult
person, by a psychotherapist who is preferably a board certified sex
therapist as well, to treat sensual/sexual/social deficits. The patient,
who is either unpartnered,or with a partner unwilling to participate,
then works with the surrogate partner and the psychotherapist through
a series of cognitive and experiential treatment sessions. I have been
practising with this modality for 18 years and the effectiveness both
in terms of cure rate and speed for most presenting problems is superior
to virtually all other types of treatment. The problem must of course
be psychogenic in nature and preferable to medical intervention by the
patient. For example, if a male is experiencing one of the several
psychogenic categories of impotence, he would chose SPT over a medical
treatment such as learning to self inject either papaverine or
prostaglandin. The self injecting technique would produce sustained
rigid erection response, but with the potential side effects of priapism,
scarring, infection, and addictive psychological dependence.
