Hi Brother Phil! (Lately I've had the irresistable urge to address all cryonicists as Brother or Sister.) Yes, and not only do primitive peoples not have private property, life with hunter-gatherer morality is even imbedded in our genes, which is the reason that capitalism strikes so many as evil. >Even in historical times most of the periods have been >dominated by some form of feudalism and all-powerful >war-lord or king or something. Correction appreciated. I meant to be speaking of modern times (i.e., since 1700). >Just because all you have experienced is western >"democracy", don't think that is all that has ever >been or that is all that will ever be . . it is >quite likely to be just another interesting, >brief, historical phenomenon in the future . . Alas, what you say is so true. The whole idea of me being able to run my affairs with little interference from those who are stronger, or who have more charisma, or ruthlessness, or political power, or wealth..., well it's been nice while it's lasted, but it probably won't continue much longer, given the upheavals soon to come. Or do you think that future set-ups will be better than what we have? I hope that you don't suppose that if we had just the RIGHT "all-powerful lords", then everything would be peechy-keen.
