X-Message-Number: 16067 From: Date: Wed, 18 Apr 2001 08:30:45 EDT Subject: Longevity with oltipraz Half of all cancer cases may have a food origin. That is particularly true in China where aflatoxins from moulds contaminate rice and grain foods. A set of drugs stimulate the glutathione S-transferase (GST) enzyme production. GST is a natural anti-oxydant. Oltipraz is one of these new drugs. Animal experiments have produced only one side effect: a greater longevity. (Seen in New Scientist, April 7 2001 issue, p.4).
