X-Message-Number: 1632 Date: Sun, 17 Jan 93 13:34:07 +0100 From: (David Stodolsky) Subject: CRYONICS: Alcor constitution The current rules by which Board members can be removed at anytime makes personalization of conflicts likely. That is, if someone doesn't like a decision they can argue that the Board members they oppose are best removed. If Board members could only be removed for "cause", then arguing the facts would be more encouraged. The recent "war" is an example, I think, of the inadvisability of arbitrary removal of Board members. It seems reasonable that new Board members have some period of time to demonstrate their competence, as opposed to being removed the first time they make a mistake or unpopular decision. David S.
