Life insurance is cheap if you're young, but you have to shop. -- Tim Freeman ; formerly >> Life insurance rates do indeed vary a great deal, depending on a number of variables, most particularly age and tobacco usage. Health factors obviously also affect rates, as does lifestyle and hazardous occupations. It is worth noting that I use an INTERNET BASED SPREADSHEET SYSTEM to find some of the most competitive rates on the planet for life insurance for my dear cryonics friends and clients. Additionally, the carriers I use are rated A+ with A. M. Best, and highly rated with other independent rating services such as Standard and Poors, and Dunn and Bradstreet, etc. ALSO CRITICAL to long term security and hassle elimination is to use only life insurance companies THAT HAVE PUT IN WRITING ON COMPANY LETTERHEAD THAT THEY HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH CRYONICS ORGANIZATIONS AS BENEFICIARIES. (There are actually only a relatively few companies that have or will do this. I know this, because I have spent a significant amount of time and money over the last 7 years attempting to develop cryonics friendly life insurance companies.) You may be interested in noting that such "name brand" companies as CNA, John Hancock, Kemper, and Banner life have specifically REFUSED to write cryonics policies. If you have one of these carriers, you may be interested in shopping around. In contrast, there is about 6 companies I work with that HAVE put in writing that they will cover and have no problem with life insurance for cryonic suspension. And the cool thing is...the premium rates are often better on these companies! A double plus! I am going to the EXTRO conference this Friday. I cannot wait to meet many of you that I have written life insurance on for the first time! Extro will be cool...hope to see many of you there. Warmly, Rudi Hoffman CFP Cryonics Life Insurance Specialist, Extropian, Alcor member, and ideologically in line with forward thinking cryonicists.
