It struck a chord in me, as my wife is quite hostile to cryonics. I noticed though that she and other women I know are fond of male gay men, while being hostile to gay women. Similarly, men appear to be hostile to gay men and not to lesbians. Evolutionary, one would expect the opposite, because you should be glad to have as many homosexuals of the same sex, so as to reduce the competition for members of the opposite sex. The only explanation that I can come up with is that in the past, some heterosexuals masqueraded as gays in order to lull their competition into a false sense of security. Is there another possible explanation? Is the hostility purely cultural?
