X-Message-Number: 1709 From: Subject: CRYONICS Alcor Area Code Change Date: Wed, 3 Feb 93 02:21:50 PST From: Derek Ryan To: Alcor members Re: Area code change I have been receiving quite a few inquiries lately concerning the fact that Alcor's phone number has changed. On November 1, 1992, our area code officially changed from 714 to 909. It is my understanding that the 714 number will still work as usual through October 31, 1993. From November 1, 1993 through April 30, 1994, the 714 number will work, but it will be accompanied by a message stating that the area code has changed to 909. After April 30, 1994, the 714 will no longer work. This means that there is no *immediate* emergency for Alcor members whose bracelets bear the 714 number. It will work for 14 more months. By April of 1994 we will have to address this problem, but there is a very good reason for us *not* to address this problem immediately. I.e., it is possible that Alcor will move to a new location in the next year. If we change everybody's bracelets to 909 now, we could very well end up needing to change them again in less than a year. For the moment we have adopted a wait and see policy. We will address the problem when/if it becomes clear that we will not be moving before April, 1994. Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=1709
