Robert Ettinger said: >Third, many think the most important bits of information are encoded in the >connections between neurons, which will not necessarily be affected by >misfolding of proteins. Although there are several ways that information may be encoded, and so Robert's above point may be good news for us, I also think it is better than that because my understanding of the human mind including: thinking and perception and memory is that the richness and completeness of our minds is all created by two signals: on and off. So the beautiful sunset = on, on, off, off, on, on, off, off, etc ....... A pretty melody = on, off, on, off, on, off, on, etc .............. The taste of a sour lemon = on, on, on, on, off, off, off, off, etc..... Every day a human mind is cramed full of exciting experiences, but all they really are are chemical and electrical impulses of on and off in certain sequences. There is no world of experiences to recover and put back in order, just figure out what the sequences are and the mind has been restored. Its really that simple :=) So even though the brain is complicated (the most complicated thing in the known universe), what reanimators in the future have to know is the sequence of excitatory and inhibitory releases in response to stimuli. Even a brain in ruble, might be able to give clues to future scientists what that sequence was. David Pizer Relax, don't sweat it, sign up, chill out.
