The Nanocomputer Dream Team site says the project is still in the early stages of development; see http://www.nanocomputer.org/IBSCStatus.cfm They have a forum for development discussions, at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/nanoscreensaver > Anyone know anything about this, or have experience > with such computer sharing? Distributed-computing client software is designed to either run only when the screensaver is activated, or constantly run in the background and use the CPU cycles which would otherwise be idle, seamlessly getting out of the way when another program requests processing. I've been running the distributed.net client; even with only 100MHz to go around, it hasn't interfered with anything. For additional information, http://www.distributed.net/faq/ and http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/faq.html have extensive FAQs.
