Subject: Successful case!

On Wednesday, August 22, 2001, Alcor welcomed our 48th biostasis
patient, Alcor member A-1894. This was our sixth consecutive
neurovitrification case, this patient also benefitting from arresting at
our local hospice/hospital with the Alcor rescue team and its equipment at
bedside. The team was additionally bolstered by the presence of
professional medically-trained Florida-based personnel, Dr. Howard
Gleichman and Dr. Todd Soard.
A-1894 was successfully intubated and oxygenated, and he received the
full complement of Alcor's medication protocol. Cardiopulmonary
stabilization was achieved without incident, and external cooling was most
successful. The patient's "core" temperature approximately one hour after
pronouncement, as measured by naso-pharyngeal probe was 27.6 degrees C.
Alcor wishes to thank its staff and volunteers for their assistance
in this latest suspension-one that may well have raised the bar! We
gratefully appreciate the valuable help (alphabetically), of: Jeffery
Benjamin, Fred Chamberlain, Linda Chamberlain, Russell Cheney, Bruce Cohen,
Mike Darwin, Dr. Howard Gleichman, Hugh Hixon, Dr. Jose Kanshepolsky, Dr.
Jerry Lemler, Jessica Lemler, Dr. Todd Soard, and Mathew Sullivan.
