Subject: Cryonics: Saul/Dave NY Issue

Yes Dave, it is prudent for any organization in as sensitive a
position as Alcor is, to be hyper-cautious and alert for any risks
including the credibility and character of any Alcor "Mover and Shaker".
However, the very nature by which you are conducting your inquiries
will itself create harm to Alcor.
The operative phrase here is " innocent until proven guilty." You
have connected an out of context loss of NY patients, with Sauls'
simultaneous involvement and in effect asking that he prove himself
innocent. Therein lies the logical impossibility of proving a negative(I
did nothing wrong) , an old debaters ploy. What you are doing is simply
poking around and innuendoizing to see what gets fleshed out.
Lets' look at this another way. During the years 1988 to 1993,
Alcor suffered significant operating deficits, that have accumulated, and
by almost unanimous agreement has left us with a difficult planning
problem. These were the years of the Mondragon administration. Now,
Dave, you were of course a staunch supporter of the administration,
a board member, and the treasurer (which many could say is equivalent to
being the chief financial officer with great fiduciary responsibility
to the membership.)
So, Dave, with all due respect, and not to be taken personally
or as any implied accusations, would you share with us your activities
during that time frame and explain why you are not responsible for for our
current deficits. It is a fair question, isnt it? We need to be sure that
your continued activities and duties will not contribute to further
deficits. There is also a rumor I am sure you would be anxious to dispel
that your sole involvement, as treasurer, with routine Alcor financial
matters, was to sign checks.
In fact, anyone , in any future years, could ask you these same
questions, in the same manner, expecting you to reply. I do not think that
would be appropriate, do you?

[ FYI: Dave has requested to be removed from Cryonet and Cryonet
Politics, etc. and wanted me to let everyone know that since he
will not be receiving new postings, please don't expect him to
reply to your messages. - KQB ]
