X-Message-Number: 17461 From: "John de Rivaz" <> Subject: Television Boradcast Date: Wed, 5 Sep 2001 19:10:02 +0100 The South West TV broadcast has just been uploaded to http://www.cryonics-europe.org Find it off the navigation pane to the left. In the broadcast, Dr Sue Avery, director of the Bourn Hall Clinic in Cambridgeshire, http://www.bourn-hall.co.uk/ who charge about 3,500 for a process they call electro-ejaculation, stated that there is a problem with cryonics because various types of cells need different cryopreservation treatment. So far so good. But she then went on to suggest that there is no point in relying on future technology for revivals, because the damage is done at the point of freezing not at the point of thawing. I am not sure that this is sound science. Maybe some more knowledgeable people can comment. She went on to suggest that people interested in cryonics are not being fully informed, and speculation on the lottery was more likely to get results. I look forward to scientifically informed comments form people who have viewed the broadcast. -- Sincerely, John de Rivaz: http://www.deRivaz.com my homepage links to Longevity Report, Fractal Report, music, Inventors' report, an autobio and various other projects: http://www.geocities.com/longevityrpt http://www.autopsychoice.com - http://www.cryonics-europe.org - http://www.porthtowan.com Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=17461
